Getting a flat tire is never fun. But before towing your new Dodge car or pre-owned Jeep vehicle into our service center at Heritage Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM Parkville, you should probably try changing it yourself. Follow these simple steps to exchange your flat tire with your spare, and then head over to our RAM dealership for a replacement.
1. Find a safe place and gather tools
When you’re on the road and your 2019 Chrysler 200 gets a flat tire, you need to head to somewhere safe and away from traffic. Then, locate the tools you need to change your tire: your spare tire, a jack, and a tire iron.
2. Loosen the lug nuts
Using the tire iron, loosen the lug nuts on your tire, but don’t remove them yet.
3. Raise the wheel
Next, insert the jack under the tire, and raise it up until the wheel is off the ground.
4. Remove the tire
Now you can completely remove the lug nuts with the tire iron, and detach the wheel itself. Make sure your lug nuts don’t roll away, since you’ll need them again.
5. Install the spare tire
Align your spare tire with the wheel studs. This may take some time to get right, so be patient. Then, put the lug nuts back on, but don’t finish tightening them just yet.
6. Lower the car
Lower the jack and remove it from under your vehicle. Secure the lug nuts properly.
7. Visit our RAM parts center
Remember to drive a bit slower on your spare tire. Make your way to our Baltimore Dodge dealership right away, so our expert technicians can patch or replace your tire. We also have a wide selection of Jeep and Dodge cars for sale if you're looking for an upgrade.
